How We Calculated This
The estimate uses the official 2026 Zion HealthShare Direct membership monthly contribution rates, published at ZionHealthShare.org. Here's exactly what the calculator does:
Your household selection maps to one of four Zion HealthShare membership tiers: Member Only, Member + Spouse, Member + Children, or Member + Family. Each tier has its own monthly contribution schedule.
Zion HealthShare rates are grouped into four age bands: 18–29, 30–39, 40–49, and 50–64. The calculator uses the primary member's age to select the correct column from the rate table.
The Initial Unshared Amount (IUA) is the amount you pay per medical need before the community shares costs — similar in concept to a deductible. Lower IUA = higher monthly contribution; higher IUA = lower monthly. The calculator shows the rate for your selected IUA tier.
Monthly savings = your current premium minus the Zion HealthShare monthly contribution. Annual savings = monthly savings × 12. Savings percentage = monthly savings ÷ current premium. The calculator does not account for out-of-pocket costs, deductibles, or the IUA itself — those are separate from the monthly contribution.
Important: This calculator provides an estimate for educational purposes only. Zion HealthShare is not insurance. Monthly contributions are not premiums and are not guaranteed to be used for your medical needs. Actual eligibility and contribution amounts are determined by Zion HealthShare upon application.
